Here鈥檚 the scenario: if I bought an online multiplayer video game (one time fee no subscription) which has NO terms of service or any kind of agreement, and I won matches where I used techniques that are not against the written rules (from the manual) and only require the normal controls/interface (no programming or anything special) and the company is informed of those techniques but a week later the rules haven鈥檛 been modified and the software hasn鈥檛 been patched - yet they suspend or terminate my account claiming that I cheated or something like this.
What could I do ? is there a USA or UK law in my favour ?|||The video game company do not have to allow you access to the online gaming feature. If you are doing something that they disagree with then they can refuse you access. You state that there are NO terms of Service or any kind of agreement, but I doubt this, there are always terms and conditions. The games company couldn't function without them.
You could try an appeal with them and if not try re-registering under a different name. The law, though is on their side in this matter.|||Glitching is against the Terms.
They may not specify what they deem as glitching, but i thought it would be common sense.
So i'm glad you got banned from XBL, PSN, or Steam or where ever you got banned from.
If only they did it to people on MW2.
Also it may not be against the Games online Terms of Service but it is against the online providers TOS, so which ever service you got banned from is within the TOS.
Also you state they should do something about the glitch first, before banning you, but some stuff including the Lag switch can't be fixed.
EDIT:
Then why the **** did you make this question.|||when you signed up to play you would have had to accept a term of service and the 'techniques' you refer to are sometimes referred to another way 'glitches'
recently in call of duty there was a glitch where if you went to certain area on the map you could escape the map and kill people on the map, this didnt require any programming or anything special but it was still cheating
edit:
look at the small print you will see it says they can withdraw online play at any time, no company is going to agree to provide online play for ever|||Good, really - it warms my heart to hear that cheats are getting banned - it serves you right. What was your 'technique' ? I am guessing a lag switch. People like you are ruining online gaming for the rest of us.
Ho ho ho !|||Ask for full confirmation why and a copy of their terms and conditions|||Nope they have the right to terminate service for any cause (And EVERYTHING has a Terms of Service online you NEED one )|||Nothing. Move on with your life.|||take it to court !
